It is that time of year again when all the designers show their latest wedding dress designs for 2014 at the trade show in Harrogate. Lace is still prevalent from all the designers. Illusion necklines plain, lace or beaded, some with sleeves were featured heavily along side the ever popular strapless gown.
Silk dupion appears to be making a comeback for the simpler, sophisticated styles especially the fifties vintage styles which featured everywhere. Ivory lace over gold or blush was used on many bridal gowns.
Almost every sort of headwear was displayed. The ever popular tiara, along with side combs, diamante hairpins and even diamante trimmed banana clips.
More veils had lace appliqué to complement the lace gowns. An interesting veil had two combs to wear either side of the head for a twenties look.
Evening gown styles are continuing but fifties style shorter gowns are making a comeback, some feature lace necklines.
Colours? Whichever colour suits your colour scheme. There didn’t appear to be a trend for colours as I think the designers have realised that the independent bride wants to create her own style and colour scheme.
One of our suppliers – Amanda Wyatt – was awarded “Wedding Dress of the Year” for her style Felicia.
